Vitrum et Cruor by temiel Vitrum et Cruor by temiel
I needed some more Younger Leland. :3 Woad paint + someone else's blood + shirtless= happy me.

That GIANT CHEST SCAR is something he doesn't have anymore by the time he meets Claris, but it is a very, VERY old wound from back when he was fighting Roman Inconnu in the 380s as a new baby vampire, and he got impaled through the heart and left out for the sunrise. (In White Wolf, getting staked doesn't kill a vampire, it just immobilizes them and puts them in torpor, so this could've turned out VERY bad for him.) His sire saved him in time, but that little encounter has caused a LOT of residual bitterness between Leland and Mithras, the big important guy who speared him, who's been the ruling vampire prince of Britain for centuries. They... don't get along, really. Since Mithras could very easily stomp Leland into the ground if he got all belligerent with him, and Leland has a hard time NOT getting belligerent (especially with people with whom he has residual bad blood), it's generally best if they avoid each other. :XD: Fortunately, things between them have chilled out enough that Leland and Mithras can at least live in the same city now.

But yeah. Backstory unnecessary; enjoy the shirtlessness. :strip:

Oh man, this just came up again as a DELICIOUS SURPRISE. Wooooad. I have an urge to draw Cad and Leland being all tribal and blood-spattered now...though I think Leland will always look so much more dignified, ESPECIALLY next to Cadfael and his nest of hair XD

Lol, Leland looks dignified next to a LOT of people. (Cormac springs to mind... QUIT YER PHILOSOPHISIN'! Ilu for that...) AND YES OMG IF YOU DO THIS I WILL LOOK AT IT AND I THINK I MAY DIE. :faint: I'm strongly lobbying for this prospect. DO EEEET.

Woad paint + blood + shirtless + HUGEASS SCAR SQUEEE = ECSTATIC MEEEE! :iconimpervyplz:

I'm reading tidbits about your new story scattered here and there, and the characters seem really interesting! I LOVE settings on the early Middle Ages (oh well, I like the late Middle Ages too. And Renaissance, and Enlightenment, and...), and combining this with vampires is something I've never seen!

Leland has just recruited himself a new fangirl! :iconiloveitplz: I love the confidence in his eyes, really hot! *_*

YEAAAAAAAAAAAH!! :iconunfplz: Exactly the effect I was hoping for. Blood, woad, shirtless, scars? SIGN ME UP FOR THIS NONSENSE, PLZ. All things I enjoy to a rather shameful degree.

AHHH I'm very glad you're digging the characters, they're... kind of my present obsession. ^^; I'm loving being able to do direct historical referencing (which I do with Astral Arcana on occasion, but everything in that has SUCH a different feel) and deal with a character that's... a lot less up-front than Rian is. :stupidme: It's a very, very nice break, and I'm becoming FAR too fond of these guys, it's a little terrible. :cries: I haven't really worked with a medieval setting before, at least in a less-sanitized less-fantasy context. Eventually we're going to stretch this into the Renaissance AND the Enlightenment and... possibly later. I'm not at all sure where it's going after that. But I'm excited to find out, because I'm really enjoying it. :3

:D Backstory is never unnecessary!!

Thank you for the yummy picture oogle.....

The backstory sounds interesting, is the whole thing set in Britian?

Can i also ask about White Wolf? Have i completly missed what that is - this is quite likely as i have no brain right now :D

p.s. love the tattoos!!

Hehe, glad you like the tats! Not permanent, though. Gotta dig woad paint.:heart: So far, the whole thing's been set in England, yeah. Claris doesn't happen along until the 1170s, but Leland's been kickin' around what was then Northumbria since the 380s. In game-time, it's been over a decade since Claris was turned, and I have no idea how much longer they're going to stay in London (which is where they're living. Together.). I know eventually they're going to go other places, but I can be patient. Sometimes. :giggle:

WHITE WOLF. Sorry, I forget that not all my watchers are tabletop gamers, so throwing around publisher and setting names doesn't automatically ring bells for everyone. :XD: White Wolf is just the company that publishes the World of Darkness setting books, which include Vampire, Werewolf, Mage, Changeling and a couple others. So when I refer to White Wolf or WoD vampires being a certain way, I just mean that in the continuity of that setting they're this way (werewolves and changelings in particular are really, really different in the older-edition White Wolf games than they are in traditional lore). Hope that explains anything and didn't just make it worse! ;)

Woad paint is brilliant, especially because i have a soft spot for spirals lol.

:D i had to ask about England cause i live in the modern version but wish i could have just glimpsed it as it once was, in glory rather than whatever it is now!!
I seriously think i was born in the wrong century!!
Aw, i love that they live together....makes me wanna bounce for some reason ??

No you have made sense there, thanks for explaining. I think it is useful really because there are so many variation on the vampire story and legend (ignoring the most recent and ridiculous of the lot) that things could get confusing if the distinction is not made. Thanks again my dear
