Inter Deum et Diabolum by temiel Inter Deum et Diabolum by temiel
Oh Zarael, you BAD angel. :giggle:

I have no idea what possessed me to do him up this way... but I'm fairly pleased with the result. I really think I had just a little too much fun drawing and coloring this... but hey, I really enjoyed the coloring part, which normally is a bit of an afterthought for me.

Pencil and PS.

Thank you! I was thinking about the lighting a lot... I have been a lot more lately. It's not something I usually like to incorporate because it can be really complicated, but including it has helped me understand it better.

HEHE, thank you!! :D I'm so glad you like them, I really enjoy drawing attractive guys. :3

For the pencil lines, I use a blue-line pencil for a really basic sketch outlining the body contours, and then I make the more detailed lineart in pencil on top of it. I scan in RGB color, and then when I open it in PS I go to the Channels palette and make all the channels invisible except for Blue. That makes it so the blue line is EXTREMELY faint (and in some cases totally invisible). Then you switch the mode to Grayscale, clicking "yes" to erase the other channels, and do your level adjustment like usual. It REALLY helps clean the whole thing up. Here's a good tutorial to give you a visual: [link]

He certainly strikes a very impressive figure! He knows black trousers are complimentary to his wings ;)

I have some crit, though - the anatomy on his torso bothers me. I know you're going for the muscular yet skiny look but I do think the discrepency between the width of his shoulders and waist is too extreme(it looks like it's almost half the width of the shoulders). The other thing that troubles me is on the left arm (his right) - I think it comes out of the body too low (i.e. his armpit isn't high enough). It makes the movement on his bent arm look a little restricted, which is probably why I've spotted it. Certainly this hasn't struck me on any of your other mancandy pics so it's probably just this one, so something to bear in mind, perhaps?
