Artist's Comments

11/17/09 Update: I know, I know, this is an older one; I was preparing this and a bunch of others for print and sale, and I decided this one really needed a non-white background. So, texture it is. Hope you're pleased with the new version. :)

I was impossibly bored at work, so I walked over to the mall, bought a $4 set of watercolor paints, and had at the sketchbook. This is the result: Rian's first-mate-of-the-Troll-Havn outfit, done in actual physical watercolor. Note the bladelock pistol. When you need to use it as a gun, the blade folds up like Sulu's sword in the new Star Trek movie. Pretty sweet.

As I've said, watercolor, pencil and ink on (buckled, buckled) paper.

Aw, thanks =) Seriously, I had the whole two-bowls-of-water setup going in my cubicle all morning. Yay for taking advantage of my boss not being there!

Indeed, I do a TON of pictures of her. Since you've got me on watch now, I'm sure you can expect to see a lot more. Maybe next time I'll fill in some background info ;)

this is brilliant 8D I love the outfit so much, and the pistol turned sword is brilliant. I also love the anatomy, and the lines you put behind her :3

"As if you could outrun me! As if you could fight me off! Don't be afraid," he murmured, his velvet voice unintentionally seductive.

And just for the record, real vampires DO sparkle! :boogie:

Very nice portrait :) She looks brave and rash and I love the colourscheme.
Why is it that 90% of the time I end up liking traditional art?

The world doesn't take me seriously. :sniff:
I return the favour. :D
