AA Species- Khedephi by temiel AA Species- Khedephi by temiel
Yay, Khedephi! :D This is the Martian species everyone's heard of, because Pirossa's one of them. I love how the girl Khedeph in this picture is just like "bitch please".

The Gold Martians are a unique species whose psychology and society are made up by me and ~Arthulin, but their design is HEAVILY inspired by the Martian Chronicles concept illustrations by the awesome Jeff Carlisle. The design of the Khedephi is meant as an homage, no infringement intended.

The Astral Arcana setting is by me and ~Arthulin.

This is great. The details - Rich. You've obviously studied anthropology, judging from some of your comments.
I like how Bradbury's Martians are different from Edgar Rice Burroughs' Martians. Golden - skinned & with more clothing, whereas Burroughs' were crimson - skin & except for strategically - placed jewelry, mostly nude.

If there was ever intelligent life on Mars capable of building societies, ( The real life evidence doesn't favor it now, unfortunately ) I think there'd be more diversity, rather than a SINGLE dominant sentient species.

Love these guys !!!

Ah, thank you so much! A lot of the concept credit for these guys has to go to my fiance, ~Arthulin, since he's better at a lot of the world-building aspects for the Astral Arcana 'verse. And definitely, I love the different interpretations of the whole Martian landscape as conveyed by different authors.

And I agree; I like to think Earth is unusual in the sense that there's only one civilization-building species. Honestly, if things between Neanderthals and Cro-Magnons had turned out differently, there could've been two. Ah, the what-ifs of history. :XD:

Thanks so much for the kind words, and the watch! I really appreciate it.

Well then, excellent job all around. For some reason, these world -building things remind me of Harlan Ellison's " Medea " anthology. He & Frank Herbert, Ed ( ? ) Saberhagen, & a group of other authors & artists combined to tell the story of this satellite orbiting a Jupiter - type world. I've got to see if my copy is still around.

Not just Earth, so many other worlds in science fiction are dominated by 1 species - The ubiquitous Vulcans, Romulans, Klingons of Star Trek, the Minbari, Centauri & Narn of Babylon 5 ( & the Shadows & Vorlons ), that's kind of a narrow view of things for such a broad - minded genre.

Maybe if someone built a time machine, went to the Dawn of Man, & changed things, Neanderthals & Cro - Magnon would be breaking bread together, if they weren't beating each other up or blowing each other to pieces like Homo Sapiens do.

You're welcome.

Ahhh, they sound so interesting! I love that they have a 3rd eye to absorb sunlight...I'm not entirely sure why, but it seems like that could be useful for energy or something...

Thanks! I think they're pretty interesting, they're one of my favorite AA species. The fact that they're tall, golden and statuesque doesn't hurt in that respect, of course. :XD: And yeah, actually, I think it is. There's actually a scale on the top of the heads of most reptiles that's translucent and it's a photoreceptor like eyes are, they just can't see out of it. This is sort of the same thing, just on the forehead instead of the crown.

Ooooo. New knowledge for the day :) I...kind of like the image of a bunch of them standing in the same place and reflecting the sun. Maybe they need to recharge XD Shiny...

Compartmentalize their emotions and logic? How come?

It's just how their brains work, weirdly enough. They definitely have a pretty non-human psychology. I think they find it easiest to make decisions without the logical half of their mind and the more emotional one getting muddled together. It's a kind of clarity I know I'd enjoy! XD

Same here. Most of our decisions are influenced by our emotions.

MASKS ... :D and ... egyptian ...? So greatly mixed! That's one of the races I would play in a Astral Arcana MMORPG ... :D the culture sounds interesting and challenging to play (and I still hate this way too big ocean between us and a nice nifty pnp round^^)
